The Communications Commission is a vital and strategic arm of the Archdiocese, entrusted with the sacred responsibility of amplifying the mind, voice, and mission of the Church. Its role is both internal and external: to ensure that the faithful within the Archdiocese are informed, formed, and inspired, and to extend the Archdiocese's message to the broader Church and society through various channels of communication.
This commission bears a weighty responsibility, as it serves as the official mouthpiece of the Archdiocese, articulating its vision, disseminating Church teachings, and covering ecclesiastical and pastoral activities. In doing so, it not only keeps the faithful connected but also fosters transparency, accountability, and unity across all pastoral agents, parishes, commissions, and the laity.
Having celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2011, the Communications Commission has made significant strides, particularly in the development of a robust and viable print ministry. The Word of Life, published monthly, has become an essential voice in the Archdiocese, chronicling spiritual reflections, news updates, pastoral insights, and community highlights.
A major recent advancement is the establishment of a Catholic printing press located at the Institute of Pastoral Affairs. This facility was envisioned not only to enhance the efficiency and quality of Church publications but also to serve as a hub for producing educational and liturgical materials, coordinating Church events, and fostering the evangelizing mission of the Archdiocese through professional, faith-based communication.
In a world saturated with competing messages and ideologies, the Communications Commission stands as a beacon of truth and clarity, offering the Church’s perspective on moral, spiritual, and social issues. As it continues to evolve, it is committed to embracing modern technologies, training Catholic communicators, and becoming an even more effective instrument of evangelization and ecclesial unity.
This arm is weighty since it bears the mind of the Archdiocese and relates same to the whole Church within the Archdiocese and beyond. It helps to deliver the teachings of the Church and also to assist in transmitting by media and print the activities of the Church. While this commission is still growing in the Archdiocese, having celebrated her 10th anniversary in 2011, it has a very strong and viable print work, 'The Word of Life' Newspaper which is produced every month. And now a Catholic printing press at the Institute of Pastoral Affairs to help coordinate Church activities
Central to its mandate is the promotion and defense of the teachings of the Catholic Church, using both traditional and modern forms of media. These include:
